The Petition of Eleazer N. Smith of the Township of Huntingdon in the Midland District, Province of Upper Canada, humbly sheweth that your Petitioner is the son of Comfort Smith of the Township of Fredericksburg, in the Midland District, a U. E. LOYALIST. That your Petitioner has attained the age of twenty-one years, and has never received any Land or order for Land from the Crown. Your Petitioner therefore prays that Your Excellency will be pleased to grant unto him two hundred acres of the waste Lands of the Crown, and permit [blank] to be his Agent to locate the same, and to receive the Patent when completed.

And as in duty bound will ever pray.

Jacob Hudley Maketh oath and saith that he was present and saw Eleazer N. Smith sign the foregoing Petition, that he is the person he therein describes himself to be : that he has attained the age of twenty-one years, and has never received any land or order for land from the Crown, to the best of this Deponent's knowledge and belief.

We, John Macaulay Esquire Chairman, and James Nickalls Junior Esquire Clerk of the Peace, certify that Eleazer N. Smith Personally appeared before the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace of the said District this day, and is recognized by the Magistrates to be the son of Comfort Smith who retained his loyalty during the late war without suspicion of aiding or assisting the enemy : and he has done his duty in defence of the Province during the late war.

Dated at the Court House in Kingston in the said District, this twenty seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three.
