May it please your Excellency
Whereas information has been made by Mr Wyre of St. Andrews that the land laying near Oak Point Bay, petitioned for by us, in behalf of ourselves & others of the late 74th Regiment & permitted to be advertised by order of your Excellency in Council has been granted to the Cape Ann association by Governor Parr, We therefore take this method to acquaint your Excellency of the many Deficultys & Disappointments we laboured under since our arrival in Passamaquaddy for instance first the expence of sending an agent to Halifax, second & lastly the expence of twice sending here to your Excellency which people of our circumstances cannot well afford, We therefore Humbly Implores as the time of Cultivation approaches that your Excellency will be pleased to order us to be put upon some footing that we may be able to raise some produce for the help of our subsistance for the ensuing Season & We with the greatest respect remain your Excellency's most obedt & most humble servts
